    In a truly terrific and inspiring performance today at the 12th annual Eden Prairie Eagle Speech Invitational, the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa speech team took first place honors in the Class 1A division. Out of the 17 B-B-E students who competed in Eden Prairie, six advanced to the finals rounds and brought home hardware and ribbons.     The Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Auxiliary, Department of Minnesota, held its 113th annual Grand Banquet Saturday evening, January 23, 2016 at the Minneapolis Marriot City Center, Minneapolis, MN. Nine students from throughout the state were in attendance having won first place in their respective district Voice of Democracy contests.     Packer Brothers and Precision Manufacturing hosted a bus tour from the the Minnesota Rental Association last Thursday. A Greyhound bus with over 25 business owners from all over the state of Minnesota got a first-hand look at what takes place at the manufacturing plant in Brooten's industrial park,with their tour led by owner Dan Kallevig and his operations manager, Adrian Rick.     On Thursday night, January 14 Michelle Ogdahl, held a Sip and Paint class at the Classic Co. Bar and Grill in the theater stage. There was a great turnout for the first time this event has been held in Brooten with nine people attending. The attendees enjoyed painting a winter scene and sipping on their favorite beverage!
