B-B-E wrestlers learn of Section 5A seedings

Jaguars host playoff opener on Tuesday, February 13

The No. 9-ranked Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars wrestling team begins their postseason journey with a home quarterfinal-round match on Tuesday, Feb. 13. The Jaguars will host a wrestle-in round match at 6 p.m. that night between No. 7-seeded Ortonville and No. 10-seeded Quad County. B-B-E's best wrestling regular season in school history with a 19-2 record earned them the No. 2 seed in Section 5A. They will face the winner of the Ortonville-vs.-Quad County dual at approximately 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday night.

Ortonville is 6-12 in duals, while Quad County is 8-16. Quad County is comprised of Renville County West, Yellow Medicine East and MACCRAY wrestlers.

The Jaguars have done their part by giving this season everything they have; now it's the fans turn to respond in kind and give our student-athletes a terrific home crowd advantage!!!

Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Browerville (19-1) is the No. 1 seed and ranked No. 7 in the latest Guillotine poll. The Wolves will host their quarterfinal round match on Feb. 13. Earlier that night, No. 8-seeded Osakis and No. 9-seeded BOLD will square off, with the winner being LP-GE/Browerville's opponent. Osakis is 5-18 in duals, while BOLD is 6-20.

Two-time defending Section 5A champion Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg (11-5) is the No. 3 seed and will host No. 6-seeded and neighboring rival Benson (8-10) at 7 p.m. on Feb. 13.

Minnewaska Area, with their first winning record in many seasons (16-11), is the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5-seeded Paynesville Area (13-13) in the quarterfinals on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at MAHS.

The winners of the quarterfinal round matches will travel to B-B-E high school on Friday, Feb. 16 for the Section 5A final four round. The semifinals will be played simultaneously beginning at 6 p.m. The section finals will begin following the conclusion of the semis, approximately at 8 p.m.

The winner of Section 5A will compete in the Class 1A state wrestling tournament in St. Paul on March 1. As it has been in recent years, the state tournament will be seeded for the top five squads.
