  • Major street improvement project in Brooten

    A major street improvement and sewer/water improvement project is underway in Brooten. Unpaved and partially-paved streets across town are getting new or upgraded overlay. Milling and grinding started near downtown Brooten on April 30. New sewer/water lines are going in at certain streets and alleys.     The mixed adult choir at East Norway Lake Lutheran church in rural New London performed The 'Hallelujah Chorus' from George Frideric Handel's "Messiah" at Easter Sunrise service on Sunday, April 21, 2019.   • Brooten city council discusses developer for new housing complex

    Brooten may soon have a senior and / or community housing project underway as soon as this coming fall. Developer Cody Nelson recently told city hall that he is still interested in developing empty city lots into apartment or duplex-style housing.   • Elrosa scores 16 runs in big season-opening win

    The Elrosa Saints amateur baseball team got off to a terrific start to the 2019 season on Sunday, April 28. The Saints traveled to neighboring division rival Greenwald and came home with a 16-2, seven-inning win. Elrosa throttled their way to a 9-0 first inning lead. With Kevin Kuefler earning a leadoff walk and Jackson Peter reaching on an error, Cody Eichers launched a shot over the fence for a three-run home run in his first at bat of the year.
