A law enforcement response from multiple agencies took place in Belgrade on Monday, November 1, as a hostage situation unfolded around 12 p.m. on the north side of town. Supporting beginning farmers is a priority for Minnesota Farmers Union and those efforts got a boost from USDA's National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) last week. NIFA announced an investment of more than $50 million to teach and train beginning farmers and ranchers. Belgrade Lions members were busy at a full house in the Brother’s Bar in downtown Belgrade for a good portion of last Friday evening, October 29, for their annual fish fry and cash/meat raffle fundraiser. A raffle drawing with a $10,000 grand prize took place at 9 p.m. to conclude the event. Two photos from that night were published in the November 4 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. Members and friends of Big Grove Lutheran church in North Fork Township, Stearns County, held their annual fall supper and auction fundraiser on Friday, October 22. The event was thoroughly entertaining from start to finish as they raised funds for the general church budget.
