    Students of the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Theater Department pulled off an outstanding performance for the opening night of their fall musical. The 25th annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on opening night was a magnificent hit from start to finish.   • Veterans Day program at B-B-E

    Members of the Brooten American Legion and the Brooten American Legion Auxiliary, in conjunction with staff and students of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa elementary and high school, hosted a Veterans Day program on the morning of Monday, November 11. Sixth grade students recited information and stories about Veterans Day. Members of the B-B-E high school band and choir also performed songs, and the Pope County Men's Chorus also sang songs.     Bruce Miller, who advocated tirelessly for agriculture and the local foods movement, passed away on November 9. Miller was the Minnesota Farmers Union Membership and Outreach Director in St. Paul. He was a graduate of Brooten High School in 1968 and was raised on a dairy farm south of town.
