Kandiyohi County Fair is August 7 to August 10

Free gate fair in Willmar offers fun for everyone

The 119th annual Kandiyohi County Fair kicks off in Willmar on Wednesday, August 7 and will run through Saturday, August 10. The fairgrounds in Willmar are located at 781-899 7th Street NW, Willmar, MN 56201 (north side of Willmar along Foot Lake).


A summary of a schedule of events:

Wednesday night (Aug. 7) in the outdoor arena, bull riding is the feature event starting at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday is KRA racing night in the grandstand at 6:30 p.m.

Friday is the always popular tractor pull in the grandstand at 6:30 p.m.

A demo derby wraps up the fair on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the grandstand. Also that night, a kids’ Power Wheels and demo raffle will be held.

Grandstand wrist bands cost $25 for adults and bring admission for all four grandstand events (youth ages 6-12 is $10).

An MCM Carnival wrist band pre-sale is at Cub Foods in Willmar for $25. Wrist bands at the carnival entrance cost $30.


Free entertainment is another big draw for the Kandiyohi County fair. All four nights, the Heritage Square stage has a long list of singing entertainment.

Wednesday: veteran tribute by Tom Hanson and Jordan Bauch, Prairie Winds summer band and Youth For Christ bands.

Thursday: Benson Family singers, Top Notchmen, Cedar Creek Band and the talent contest.

Friday: I witness and Custom Made.

Saturday: Ryan Lee and October Road.

All four nights, a $1,000 cash drawing will take place at 10 p.m. One name will be drawn each night, and the winner must be present to win. Unclaimed prizes will be added to the Saturday night drawing, and on Saturday night, names will be drawn until they have a winner.


Free daily features include: Los Moralitos Circus, Laser Tag, Climbing Wall, a monster coloring board, antique and classic tractors, Kandiyohi County farms (in the old settlers’ cabin), and a MN Ag History presentation by Doug Ohman.

Daily admission is $7 for adults and $2 for students (K-12) with pre-K children free. A season ticket costs $20 at the gate. On Thursday, August 8, senior citizens (ages 55+) have just $3 admission.
