A landmark in downtown Brooten is no more.

By the middle of last week, the walls were opened up and the demolition was well underway for the Nelson Hardware store property in downtown Brooten.

The building's demolition was handled by Opatz Excavating of Holdingford. Prior to opening up the building, many weeks' worth of cleaning and clearing took place of the interior, which was full of mold from a rotted roof that fell into disrepair in recent years.

Additional information and photos were published in the August 30 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper.
