The opening night of Bonanza Valley Days featured a marvelous ecumenical Worship in the Park service led by River of Life Church at the Brooten City Park on Thursday, July 10. Organizers were thrilled to have an official turnout of 63 for this event. On Thursday, July 3, the first wave of Bonanza Valley Days T-shirts went on sale in Brooten at two locations. The public can stop and purchase T-shirts at the Bonanza Valley State Bank on Central Avenue or at The Shed (Jana Mae's, Earthy Elements and Meraki Salon) on Highway 55 East (950 Highway 55). The Belgrade V.F.W. Post No. 1825 held its Memorial Day program at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa high school's Olson Auditorium. About 80 members of the public were in attendance along with the B-B-E high school's grades 8-12 choir and band, which both performed patriotic songs. An extensive church bell and building remodel project is underway at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. The Brooten American Legion held a Memorial Day program on May 26 at the Brooten Pavilion. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa high school band performed patriotic music, and the guest speaker was B-B-E elementary principal Josie Dingmann. This week, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) greatly altered the government's COVID jab recommendations for the public. The new recommendations bring the United States in line with just about every other country in the western world.
