The Belgrade V.F.W. Post No. 1825 held its Memorial Day program at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa high school's Olson Auditorium. An extensive church bell and building remodel project is underway at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Elrosa. This week, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) greatly altered the government's COVID jab recommendations for the public. The new recommendations bring the United States in line with just about every other country in the western world. In a nutshell: COVID jabs will now only be recommended for those in high-risk health situations or senior citizens age 65 or older. Jerry Huls, who taught and coached at Brooten schools from 1979 to 1983, passed away on Tuesday, April 29. He was the Brooten Buccaneers head wrestling coach during those four years and also taught K-6 physical education at Brooten elementary school.
