The Bonanza Valley Days began with a terrific evening of socializing and fellowship at the city park for the first Brooten Farmers Market of the season plus the BVD Worship in the Park event. A long list of exciting updates are coming in a light summary fashion of how Saturday of Bonanza Valley Days has gone this weekend in Brooten. Crowds have been tremendous in the heat, and parking was tight near both downtown Brooten, Quisberg Park and Prairie View Golf Course and also at the city park. The BVD Kiddie Parade held on Saturday morning had 23 participants. An old-fashioned church social took place at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church grounds on Sunday, June 28. Following Mass in the morning, a variety of indoor and outdoor games took place in the school building and outside near the softball field backstop. The Knights of Columbus chapters from Sauk Centre and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa both served cold beer and root beer floats. The Saturday night street dance on July 11 for Bonanza Valley Days in Brooten features Cal Ecker and Amanda Watkins. They take the stage on Main Street Brooten at 8:30 p.m. that night, with the concert sponsored by the Brooten Fire Relief Association. Exciting news to share! The Museum in Belgrade will be seeing an addition this summer. The Committee is seeking donations to help in this effort to make improvements to the building. The back wall was collapsing so it needed repair and since it would need to be completely replaced, we as a committee decided to make an addition and add a bathroom to the building at this time. Charlotte Ann (Czech) Wold passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, at home surrounded by her family and those who loved her. Her Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Belgrade. The town of Brooten, like many small towns, has a stray cat problem. In some parts of town, as many as 7 or 8 stray cats can be seen roaming the neighborhood. It's too many. The stray cat population of Brooten is too high. Cat and dog owners need to keep their pets on their own property. If they can't do that, they should not be pet owners.
