    Shown is the last part of the worship service held at the Brooten Pavilion on Sunday, August 30, where the Cedar Creek Gospel Band performed. They are a group of musicians from Kandiyohi County. The worship service was hosted by the Big Grove-Crow River-Grace and Trinity-West Lake Johanna Lutheran parishes.     The state-ranked Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars volleyball team lost a tough 3-2 match at New London-Spicer to open the 2026 season. It was also the debut of new head coach Holly Breitbach, who takes the reigns of the program from Brittany Borgerding, who was head coach for the past two seasons.     The annual Pope County Farm Bureau Breakfast on the Farm event is on Monday, September 7 in rural Villard. Earning the titles of Belgrade Royal Ambassadors were Ellan Fischer and Paighton Oeltjenbruns.     Back-to-back wins in the Class C amateur state tournament have moved the Elrosa Saints into the town team state quarterfinals. The Saints faced the Pierz Brewers on August 23 in the first round of state.     With volunteer assistance provided by two Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa graduates, the Belgrade August Fest kids pedal pull contest was held on Saturday, August 15 during the town's four-day celebration.
