The state-ranked Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars volleyball team lost a tough 3-2 match at New London-Spicer to open the 2026 season. It was also the debut of new head coach Holly Breitbach, who takes the reigns of the program from Brittany Borgerding, who was head coach for the past two seasons. Paul Greene of Glenwood, a well-known musician and singer in our area, preached at West Lake Johanna and Trinity Lutheran churches on Sunday, August 23. Back-to-back wins in the Class C amateur state tournament have moved the Elrosa Saints into the town team state quarterfinals. The Saints faced the Pierz Brewers on August 23 in the first round of state. Utilizing a powerful offensive attack, Elrosa won 10-5 while racking up 19 hits against four Pierz pitchers to advance to the Sweet 16 round. With volunteer assistance provided by two Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa graduates, the Belgrade August Fest kids pedal pull contest was held on Saturday, August 15 during the town's four-day celebration. The Belgrade August Fest celebration is underway. The fun kicked off on Thursday, August 13 with multiple activities at the city park on South Highway 71. Erickson Farm hosted a petting zoo on the north side of the park while children enjoyed the playground.
