
An old-fashioned church social took place at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church grounds on Sunday, June 28. Following Mass in the morning, a variety of indoor and outdoor games took place in the school building and outside near the softball field backstop. The Knights of Columbus chapters from Sauk Centre and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa both served cold beer and root beer floats. The Bonanza Valley Days celebration in Brooten, Minnesota, kicks off on Thursday, July 9 with the start of garage sales plus the Brooten Farmers Market No. 1 of the summer followed by BVD Worship in the Park. The events continue for two full days on Friday and Saturday before winding down with a handful of big-time events on Sunday, July 12. The Saturday night street dance on July 11 for Bonanza Valley Days in Brooten features Cal Ecker and Amanda Watkins. They take the stage on Main Street Brooten at 8:30 p.m. that night, with the concert sponsored by the Brooten Fire Relief Association. Cal Ecker and Amanda Watkins performed at a fundraising concert with the Brooten Fire Department in October 2017. They returned to Brooten four summers ago to perform at BVD on July 10, 2022.
