Smooth Magic 107 FM's final day of broadcasting (VIDEO)

Saturday, October 31 will be the last day of Smooth Magic 107 FM of broadcasting in West Central Minnesota. The station's format will change dramatically on the evening of Halloween, when it officially changes over to new ownership at midnight, October 31. At that time, the music format will change to country music. The Smooth Magic blend of contemporary, laid-back music spanning from the 1940s through the 1990s will come to an end. Smooth Magic's unique mix of music ranging from Patsy Cline to Roy Orbison to The Beatles to Kenny Loggins will be greatly missed.

The website for Smooth Magic 107 is https://www.kmgk1071.com, where you can listen live via the Internet from anywhere in the world.

Under Smooth Magic 107's owner, Steve Nestor, the music library of songs played on the radio is approximately 2,250 songs. At Christmas time, Nestor played over 650 different Christmas songs as his station came to be known locally as The Christmas Station. Nestor purchased the radio station in Glenwood in 1993.

Since March 2017, the Bonanza Valley Voice has held a weekly radio show at Smooth Magic every Friday morning called The Voice on KMGK. The final radio show for the newspaper was held on Friday, October 30.

Nestor, who is 78 years old, will wake up on Sunday, November 1 as a fully retired senior citizen. It will be the first day of his life in 61 years where he can wake up and not have to think about "work" as his retirement officially begins.

In the attached video, you can watch the start of the October 30 radio show at the station in Glenwood.
