Terrace Mill hosting Bluegrass Festival this Sunday, Sept. 30

The Historic Terrace Mill invites everyone to town this weekend! They are hosting a Bluegrass Festival featuring The High 48s and Crow River Junction, on Sunday, September 30. Vendors and a Farmer's Market will be available, and a fall menu will be served from the Terrace Mill kitchen.

The menu includes pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, coleslaw, chicken wild rice soup, apple crisp, Schwans ice cream, coffee, apple cider hot, pop and water. Don Sorby, formerly of Brooten and an extraordinarily-talented chef in his own right, started preparation for the festival's menu on site on Saturday.

Back by popular demand, The High 48s previously performed at the Terrace Mill to a sold out crowd! Since forming in northeast Minneapolis in 2006, The High 48s have been making music that combines the soulful sound of classic bluegrass with a modern attitude. The High 48s are also a band of songwriters. Their songs ring true to their lives as northern city-folk. In 2017, the band released their eighth studio album, Daddy Was a Bank Robber. Read more about them and hear teasers of their music at TheHigh48s.com.

A free fiddle workshop will be conducted by Eric Christopher, fiddle player for The High 48s. The workshop will be held beginning at noon on Sept 30. Email to reserve a spot: info@terracemill.org.

Opening for The High 48s is the Willmar based group, Crow River Junction, playing a variety of styles from Gospel to modern Bluegrass. You can find them on Facebook for more information. Also, a video of Crow River Junction is posted below and features them singing "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" at the Kandiyohi County Fair in Willmar on August 9 this past summer.

Gates and Vendors open at 11 a.m. Terrace Mill Kitchen begins serving at noon. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for students, 5 and under free. Contact info@terracemill.org with any questions. It is recommended to bring a camp chair for seating, and leave pets at home. The Terrace Mill is an alcohol-free environment.

This activity is made possible through grants from the Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
