New business opens in Brooten's industrial park

Karen and Mike Larson are excited to see new visitors to their Brut Worm Farms facility.

Brut Worm Farms is open for the public on Saturdays (9 a.m. to noon) this month. They have worm castings, Brut Strong Soil and nightcrawler for sale. You can find them at 450 Industrial Road in Brooten's industrial park on the east side of town.

• What are worm castings?

Worm castings are the result of nature's pure organic chemistry located in the digestive tract of earthworms. Castings are simply the excrements of worms!

• Why Brut worm castings?

The earthworm is nature's ultimate composting machine. Not only does it compost organic material, it is done in an ideal environment and increases the population of microbial life.

• 100% Organic – OMRI Listed

• Promotes beneficial microbial life in the soil.

• Microbial life improves a plant's ability to take up nutrients.

• Castings are made of absorbent organic matter, retaining water and make it available to the roots.

• Worm castings contain a uniform mix of nutrients and trace elements in simple form so the plants can easily obtain them.

• The beneficial microbes do not contain disease carrying microbes.

Suggested directions for use of worm castings include:

• Existing indoor plants - sprinkle a cup of Brut worm castings around the plant.

• New indoor plants - gently mix a 1-to-4 ratio of Brut worm castings to your soil around the plant.
