Staff of the Belgrade Co-op invites members to their fall Customer Appreciation meal on Tuesday, September 17 at the Brooten Pavilion from 5 to 7 p.m. Equity checks will be paid out from 1998 and 1999. With questions, call the Co-op at 320-254-8231.

All boys and girls in grades K through 5 are invited to join Cub Scouts for 2019-2020 registration night on Thursday, September 19 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the B-B-E elementary school media center. Registration cost is $35 which includes a T-shirt, handbook and registration. If you can't attend the meeting, please come to the September Pack Meeting on Sunday, September 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Belgrade Catholic Parish Center.

Pope County Historical Society annual meeting

The annual membership meeting of the Pope County Historical Society will be held on Saturday, September 21 at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will begin with a dedication of the “history” lake-walk node, a partnership project with Glenwood and Beyond. The business meeting and program will follow the dedication. Three board members will be elected.

The Belgrade V.F.W. Post No. 1825 will hold a Flag Retirement ceremony on Saturday, September 21 at 1 p.m. at the Belgrade V.F.W. The public is welcome to attend.

Brink's Beer Joint Turkey Fest

The annual Brink's Beer Joint Turkey Fest in Swift Falls will be held on Saturday, September 21. A bean bag tournament starts that afternoon at 2 p.m. with an entry fee of $20 per team (150 percent pay back). The First Responder pot luck turkey cook-off runs from 3 to 5 p.m. Cook turkey your way and win cash! "We buy, you cook" call 320-843-4900 to sign up. The Turkey Fest parade is at 5:30 p.m. Kids will have all sorts of fun! Bouncy house, face painting, kids games and prizes plus frozen treats. Live music by CJ Dafoe will play from 6 to 9 p.m. See you in Swift Falls on September 21!

Sedan Fire Department gun raffle

The Sedan Fire Department will hold their 13th annual gun raffle fundraiser on Saturday, September 21 at Rooney's Bar in Sedan. Social hour is from 6 to 7 p.m., and the 40-gun raffle takes place at 7 p.m. Need not be present to win, but raffle ticket purchasers must be 18 years of age and eligible to register a firearm or automatic forfeit. No guns will be released the night of the event. Transfer fees are responsibility of the winner. $100 per ticket, and only 200 tickets sold. Also that night at Rooney's Bar, the Sedan Firefighter Relief Association will hold a single gun raffle at the same time with the same requirements.

First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake meatball dinner

First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake in rural New London will hold their annual fall meatball dinner on Sunday, September 22, serving from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. They are located nine miles west of New London on County Road 40. Menu: meatballs with gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, salads, bread, assorted desserts, coffee or milk. Also enjoy: "Granny's Attic" and baked goods plus crafts and garden produce. Cost: adults $10, kids ages 6 to 12 are $5 and kids ages five and under are free.

The Elrosa Senior Citizens will hold their sixth Bologna Daze fundraiser meal of the 2019 season on Tuesday, September 24 at Bucky's Bar from 5:30 to 8 p.m. After this one, there will be just one more Bologna Daze held this year.

The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Girl Scouts organization will hold a recruiting and informational meeting on Thursday, September 26 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the B-B-E elementary school library in Brooten. The group will be holding monthly meetings and working on life skills plus going on fun and exciting outings throughout the year.

Terrace Mill Bluegrass Festival

The Terrace Mill Foundation is excited for their upcoming premier fall event, the Terrace Fall Bluegrass Festival, coming on Sunday, September 29 on the Terrace Mill grounds. The event will feature a free guitar workshop, and local food and vendors. Back by popular demand, The High 48s previously performed at the Terrace Mill to a sold out crowd! Gates and Vendors open at 11:00 a.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students, 5 and under free. Terrace is located 13 miles south of Glenwood on Highway 104. Crow Lake Lutheran church service and fundraiser

The public is cordially invited to a benefit service for Crow Lake Lutheran church on Sunday, September 29 from 2 to 4 p.m. at 20775 County Road 200 in rural Belgrade. Come for a great afternoon of worship and song with friends and family! This is an excellent opportunity to gather for faith and fellowship and enjoy a peaceful time reminiscing a small church in a quiet, rural setting. A free-will offering will be taken with proceeds going to benefit the Crow Lake Cemetery Fund.

Glacial Ridge Hospital Auxiliary Harvest Ball

The Auxiliary of Glacial Ridge Hospital is gearing up for their 15th annual Harvest Ball on Friday, October 4 at the Lakeside Ballroom in Glenwood. A dinner, auctions and dance will take place that night in support of the Auxiliary and the many causes they work with at the hospital. Tickets can be purchased by September 20 at GRHS at $50 per person ($30 dinner and dance and $20 tax-deductible donation). Doors open at 5 p.m., at which time you can check out the live and silent auction items, raffles and “Walls of Wine”. The dinner is at 7 p.m. and includes a chicken piccata entree with rice pilaf, French green beans, spinach salad and dinner rolls. Dancing is from 9 to 11 p.m. with music by Kevin Klimek and the Enterprise Band.

Hope Lutheran Church of Sunburg invites everyone to their Fall Bazaar on Saturday, October 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Luncheon menu includes: vegetable beef or wild rice soup, ham sandwiches, salad, Rommegrot, variety of pies. First Lutheran church Norway Lake Sunday dinner

Join the First Lutheran Council for Sunday dinner on October 6! All are welcome for dinner after the 11 a.m. service at First Lutheran church of Norway Lake on Sunday, October 6. The First Lutheran church council members will furnish and serve a variety of hot dishes, salads and bars. Rolls and butter, pickles and green olives, and beverages are courtesy of a Thrivent Action Team gift. Please join us for a good “Sunday dinner” as we, the First Lutheran Council, show our support for capital improvement to keep our church viable. Free will donations can be earmarked for either the parking lot fund or the kitchen update. We realize capital improvement at First Lutheran has room for much discussion and lots of work with many decisions to be made. We are simply showing our commitment to “getting started” and moving forward.

A special fundraiser benefit will take place on Saturday, October 12 for Janet Raveling of Brooten. The event takes place at the Belgrade V.F.W. starting at 11 a.m. Later that night at the same location, the Brooten Class of 1984 will host a class reunion. Janet is a member of the BHS Class of '84.

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church soup and pie luncheon

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church of Swift Falls will hold their annual fall soup and pie luncheon on Sunday, October 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (GPS address: 201 Falcon Avenue, Benson, MN 56215) All the homemade soup you can eat! Chicken wild rice, Wisconsin cheese, vegetable beef, bean and ham, chicken noodle, clam chowder, chili, potato with crackers, buns, milk, coffee and a piece of pie (large assortment of pies!) Cost: adults (age 13 and older) $10, children ages 5-12 are $5 and children under 5 are free. To order take-outs ahead, call Gail Svor at 320-843-2764. Local immigration forum at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake

Everyone is invited to a local immigration forum and gathering on Sunday, October 13 at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake. The Norway Lake Lutheran Historical Association and the Norway Lake Parish are sponsoring the event, which will bring together recent immigrants to the local community plus descendants of those who were immigrants long ago. Representatives from each group will share their experiences. A portion of the program will have entertainment and food sharing with samples of food from various cultures. This event will help to improve knowledge and break down barriers. Most importantly, we will learn from each other when we compare and contrast experiences. The event will be at First Lutheran church, further details TBA.
