Grove Lake area veterans and family members held a Memorial weekend program on Sunday, May 25. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa baseball team successfully opened the Sub-Section 6A-South tournament with a 12-2 in in 6 innings. The opponent was No. 7-seeded West Central Area. Seniors Luke Illies and Brett DeRoo split pitching duties for the Jaguars, who are looking to return to the Section 6A championship game for the sixth straight season. A marvelous fireworks show by Precocious Pyrotechnics was fired off east of the football stadium on Friday, May 23. The show was part of the Class of 2025 graduation from Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa high school. Their commencement ceremony was held that evening at the football field with picture-perfect conditions featuring almost full sunshine, almost no wind to speak of along with perfect temperatures in the upper 60s. The Brooten American Legion held a Memorial Day program on May 26 at the Brooten Pavilion. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa high school band performed patriotic music, and the guest speaker was B-B-E elementary principal Josie Dingmann. She is a granddaughter of the late Harold and Harriet Jacobson, who passed away this past winter. They were long-time members of the Brooten American Legion and Legion Auxiliary.
