School board approves 2016 local levy

The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa school board approved the fiscal year 2016 levy at Monday’s regular meeting at the high school. The local levy, which will help fund operations for the 2016-17 school year, is set to include a 7.74 percent increase from last year.

The biggest source of the increase stems from the Long-Term Facility Revenue category of $107,630. This is a new funding stream approved by the state legislature.

Superintendent Matt Bullard explained, “This is our 10-year facility plan that we talked about in August. It was granted by new legislation that gives all school districts levy authority to be able to fund construction and building needs.”
