The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa speech team finished the regular season with the Central Minnesota Conference meet on March 17 and the Melrose Invitational on March 21. At the CMC meet, held at Maple Lake high school, junior Surabhi Velez earned the conference title in the Discussion category.
The speech team now prepares for the Sub-Section 5A-West meet, which is at New London-Spicer on Friday, April 10.
The attached video features 8th grader Eliana Funes in Melrose earning the second place medal for the Next In division of Dramatic Interpretation. At the CMC meet on March 17, Funes earned the conference runner-up spot in that category.
