In a battle for second place in the Central Minnesota Conference, with both teams trying to stay in contention for first place, the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa girls' basketball team had their hands full on Thursday, January 14. Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, while just 4-9 overall, sat in a tie with the Jaguars at 3-1 in the CMC and brought a hot three-point shooting game to town for Parents Night.

A back-and-forth affair played out, but the Jaguars ultimately prevailed by a 73-71 score in overtime.

Altogether the game had four lead changes in the first half, seven lead changes in the second half and two lead changes in overtime. It was a must-win game, with the Jaguars remaining just one game out of first place in the CMC behind front-runner Kimball Area.
