On Friday, April 5 at approximately 4:15 p.m., a semi tractor struck power lines near the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa elementary school along School Avenue and took down two power poles. The situation left multiple live power lines sitting on the street going north and east from the intersection. The Brooten Fire Department, Belgrade Police Department and Minnesota State Patrol responded to the emergency and cordoned off the area.

By 5:30 p.m., Xcel Energy crews had arrived and began the process of disconnecting the lines and getting everything back to normal.
