Jenna Fischer and Ally Gruber are shown in the JF Auto Repair float that was part of the lighted Christmas parade for Santa Day in Brooten on December 5, 2015.

We're not sure when it last took place in Brooten, but it's definitely been a few years since a formal Christmas lights contest took place.

Brooten Santa Day organizers kicked around the idea, and with Santa Day moving to a drive-through event on December 12, this works great to ask people to drive around town and vote on their favorite light displays. Ideas include, but are not limited to, categories for best inflatables, most lights and best kids display.

The December 3 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice print edition will include the details of Santa Day as well as the light contest. Also, the lighted Christmas parade will start at 6 p.m., and the route will be outlined in the December 3 Voice.
