Sjostrom to join other Ag leaders at FarmFest policy forums

Lucas Sjostrom of rural Brooten will join a panel of fellow agriculture heavy-hitters at the FarmFest ag forums in August.

On Wednesday, August 4 at 10:30 a.m., the ag forum session will revolve around the topic, "Designing the Ideal Farm Bill" at the Wicks Building on the site of Farmfest in rural Morgan.

Sjostrom and his wife, Alise, own and operate the Redhead Creamery, which was founded in 2014.

In this August 4 agriculture session, panelists will discuss the current farm bill and its pros and cons and look ahead at the next Farm Bill including ag policy recommendations and tax policy discussion.

In addition to Sjostrom, the panelists include:

• former Minnesota Congressman Collin Peterson

• Don Schiefelbein, incoming President of the National Cattleman's Beef Association.

• Tom Haag, Vice President of the National Corn Growers Association.

• Kevin Paap, President of Minnesota Farm Bureau.

• Gary Wertish, Minnesota Farmers Union President.

• Mike Yost, Farm Operator from Murdock, Minnesota.
