Coming up on Sunday, August 21 is the annual Anniversary Celebration for the Norway Lake Lutheran Historical Association. This event is hosted at the old log church located southwest of West Norway Lake.

This year the celebration will begin with a picnic lunch from noon to 1 p.m. under the tent by the old log church (free will donation). The lunch is followed by a program beginning at 1:30 p.m. which runs for a little over an hour.

This year's NLLHA celebration theme is "Norway Lake women of the past, their lives and how they helped build a community."

The NLLHA program this year includes music, a reader's theater and a short play, entitled, The Immigration Journey of Kari Eriksdatter: A Pioneer Woman's Story of Strength, Perseverance and Courage.

This play is adapted from Marlin Henjum's book, Wheat King, which features the story of a young mother's immigration from Norway to the Henjum farm west of Norway Lake. Left with three young children after her husband's death in Norway, she made the agonizing decision to look for a better life in America. The play brings to life this amazing pioneer woman's struggles, courage and bravery as she established a new life on the Henjum farm.

After the program we'll serve a little coffee and lefse. Please join the NLLHA for great food, great company and some really, really great history!
