B-B-E Jaguars wrestling thunders to State Final Four

During the Class 1A state quarterfinals in St. Paul, the crowd of Jaguar faithful erupt in wild applause just after Talen Kampsen earned a pin at 195 pounds to help salt away an opening-round win.

The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa wrestling team, ranked No. 5 in the last Guillotine poll of the season, stormed their way into the Class 1A state tournament as No. 3 seed out of eight teams. The Jaguars faced Medford in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 2 at Xcel Energy Center and won the final six matches of the dual. Final: B-B-E 42, Medford 22.

With a 21-5 overall record, the Jaguars had blazed their way into the state final four round. In the semifinals, they suffered a tough 33-27 loss to No. 2-seeded Caledonia/Houston.

In the third-place match, the Jaguars fell 32-30 while coming up just short of a win to end the season.
