B-B-E Resistance Robotics starts regional on winning track (UPDATES)

Robotics team competing in La Crosse, Wisconsin on March 25-26

The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Resistance Robotics team started with two alliance wins in their first three matches at the Minnesota North Star regional at the La Crosse Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin on Saturday, March 25. The North Star regional is sponsored by the F.I.R.S.T. (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics international youth organization based in Manchester, New Hampshire.


In their first match of the day, B-B-E's red alliance won 113 to 70. Their alliance included teams from Arcadia, WI and Hermantown.

In the second match of the day, B-B-E's blue alliance lost a close battle by a 65-63 score. The blue alliance in this match included teams from Washington Technology Magnet School in St. Paul and from Totino-Grace in Minneapolis. The winning red alliance featured teams from Rockford, Eau Claire (WI) and Elk River high schools.

In B-B-E's third match of the day, their red alliance won by a narrow score of 65-58 as they climbed to 12th place overall. The red alliance included teams from Big Lake and also St. Michael-Albertville high school.


In B-B-E's fourth match of the day, their blue alliance suffered a wide 114 to 63 defeat during which one of their alliance robots was not functional. B-B-E's robot continues to perform well, according to Coach Reed Adrian. Their blue alliance included teams from Circle Pines and Elk River. The winning red alliance in this match featured teams from Rockford, ROCORI and Hopkins high schools. ROCORI's team sits in first place early in the afternoon, and they placed sixth at the Lake Superior Regional held in Duluth on March 1-4. Hopkins currently stands in seventh place in La Crosse, and they placed 21st in Duluth. Rockford is in 14th place. On the heels of this fourth match, B-B-E's team sits in 22nd place out of 49 teams in the region field.


In B-B-E's fifth match of the day, their blue alliance lost by a 97-76 score with fellow alliance teams from Red Wing and Waconia. Ultimately it came down to a matter of being outhustled by their red alliance competitors, which were from high schools in Rochester, St. Paul and Minnetonka. Resistance robotics falls to 26th place after this match.

In B-B-E's sixth match of the day, their red alliance lost by a wide margin of 102 to 66 to put their overall record at 2-4 on the day.

In B-B-E's seventh match of the day, their red alliance won a thrilling match by a 98-87 score! Red alliance won the auto-program period by a 23-12 score, and they won the tele-op competition of the match by a 60-55 score. This snaps a three-match losing streak, and they are now 3-4 overall (26th place). B-B-E's red alliance included their neighbors to the southwest, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, as well as Roseau's robotics team. K-M-S's team is currently in fifth place overall with a 5-2 record.


B-B-E's eighth match of the day pairs them in a blue alliance with robotics teams from Holy Family Catholic in Victoria and Hopkins.

In B-B-E's eighth match of the day, their blue alliance suffered a 130 to 80 loss as their overall record falls to 3-5 (29th place). In the game piece count, blue alliance was outdone by a 17-10 margin. Overall they were outscored in the tele-op period by an 83-39 margin, providing the key difference in the match.

B-B-E enters the ninth match of Saturday ranked 27th out of 49 teams in the field.

In B-B-E's ninth and final match of the day, their blue alliance picked up a high-scoring 132 to 86 win.



UPDATE: B-B-E's 10th match of the region competition and first of Sunday (March 26) starts at approximately 09:28. B-B-E's blue alliance includes teams from Rocori and Warroad who are ranked first and third, respectively, in the region field.

Sunday, March 26 morning update: in B-B-E's 10th match of the region competition, their blue alliance earned a 130-103 win as their record was evened at 5-5 overall while climbing to 17th place. Blue alliance won the autonomous period by a 39-21 margin, and they won the tele-op period by a 66-62 margin.

In B-B-E's 11th match of regions and second on Sunday morning, their red alliance won 80-51. B-B-E's robot was clicking the entire way and also successfully parked on the charging station for end game points. They are now 6-5 overall and have moved up one place to 16th in the field.

In B-B-E's 12th match of regions and third on Sunday morning, their red alliance won a squeaker that went down to the wire and then some by a 108 to 106 score. They sit in 18th place after this match was complete with a 7-5 overall record.

B-B-E's 13th final match of regions is queued for approximately 11:58.

**UPDATE: in their final match, B-B-E's red alliance lost 122-99. They fell to 19th place overall and finish the tournament with an 7-6 record. This was an outstanding region experience for the team!! ***Update!*** B-B-E Resistance Robotics was selected to advance into the playoffs at La Crosse.
