B-B-E fastpitch Jaguars win playoff opener (VIDEO)

The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars fastpitch team has won the playoff opener in Sub-Section 3A-North on Thursday, May 23. They defeated Ortonville 7-2 to advance to the double elimination format of the postseason. In the attached video, the Jaguars are facing the Trojans in the bottom of the sixth inning, during which they scored four runs to break open what was a tight game to that point.

The game was scoreless through the first four-and-a-half innings before the Jaguars plated three runs in the bottom of the fifth. They took a 7-0 lead into the seventh inning, but the Trojans (5-15) were only able to get two runs back before the final out was recorded.

B-B-E improved to 9-11 for the season and advanced to face Renville County West, the No. 3 seed in Sub-Section 3A-North. The RCW Jaguars ended Dawson-Boyd's season in a 13-4 win on May 23 in Brooten. RCW (8-11) and B-B-E play in the second round on May 23 in Brooten.

Game three update on May 23: the RCW Jaguars defeated the B-B-E Jaguars 7-4 in come-from-behind fashion after plating four runs in the top of the seventh inning. Both teams advance to Saturday's (May 25) games in the Section 3A tournament in Marshall. The B-B-E Jaguars (9-12) face BOLD in an elimination game at 1 p.m.
