The Bonanza Valley Days celebration is coming to Brooten on July 11, 12, 13, and 14. Here's a light summary of food options all weekend long. This will also be published in the July 11 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper.

Show your support for the Brooten Fire Department! Friday night!

The big, big event is the ever-popular Brooten Firemen's Chicken BBQ on Friday night, July 12. Did I say this is big!? It's partly a fundraiser for the fire department and also a great chance for you to see folks you perhaps don't see throughout the year. This supper, served at the city park next to the Pavilion, generally draws between 650 and 750 people to eat on picnic tables and under the big tent at the Brooten city park. They are serving from 5 to 8 p.m., so don't miss out! The menu includes grilled chicken, potato salad, beans, pickles, bread and a beverage.

At the Lucky Shots Bowling Alley on main street in Brooten, they will have open kids bowling from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 13. Also! Lucky Shots Bowling Alley will be grilling brats and hamburgers for sale and also single slices of pizza on both Friday and Saturday, July 12-13, starting at 11 a.m. both days.

RJ's Mini Mart, the Backyard Burger drive-in, Marcia's Bar and Grill plus the KaDe Shack will also all be serving food. At the KaDe Shack, they will shut down their kitchen at approximately noon on Saturday, July 13 and be serving only drinks the rest of the day/evening. On Saturday morning, the KaDe Shack will have Tom's hearty breakfast buffet from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. in part to help feed the huge crowd coming to town for the BVD Car and Tractor Show.

The B-B-E Jaguars fastpitch softball team will be serving food out of the Booster Club wagon at the intersection of Second Street and Main Street on Saturday, July 13 starting at 11 a.m. They plan to serve for at least 12 hours depending on demand! They are troopers!

The B-B-E Knights of Columbus will serve root beer floats in downtown Brooten starting at 8 a.m. in conjunction with the BVD Car and Tractor Show. They will serve until at least noon depending how supplies last! They always go through a dozen or more buckets of ice cream.

The Sedan Fire and Rescue squad will serve hamburgers and hot dogs on Saturday, July 13 in conjunction with the BVD Vendor Show and Men's Softball tournament. They are serving a wide array of grilled food! Serving at the city park softball parking lot by the Sedan crew starts around noon that day.

Many food vendors coming for BVD!

Other food vendors are coming to town as well and will be stationed on Main Street. On Friday: the Food Shack will be stationed by the Lucky Shots Bowling Alley. They will be set up prior to the DeeJay Sounds street dance, and they will be open on Saturday evening as well beginning around 4 p.m. with food offerings such as mini donuts.

On Saturday: in addition to the Food Shack, the Smoke Shack will be set up on the new vacant (gravel) lot on main street across from the KaDe Shack. This is the same vendor that was set up by the Classic Co. Theater building (on that empty lot) last year during BVD.

As mentioned before, the B-B-E softball team and the Knights of Columbus will be set up on Main Street on Saturday.

Let's finish BVD 2024 with a bang on Sunday!

The B-B-E Scouts BSA Waffle Feed will run on Sunday morning from 8 a.m. to noon. Let's see if we can beat a turnout of 500!!! Bring your patience and come and enjoy the waffle feed with ample seating under the big tent.
