Sonic Escape Family Concert! at B-B-E high school
Everyone is invited to a family-friendly concert on Monday, October 7 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Location: B-B-E School Olson Auditorium 710 Washburn Ave, Belgrade. Juilliard-trained violinist Maria Millar and flutist Shawn Wyckoff blend musical styles and explore the world of music! Join us for this lively, interactive family-friendly concert for all ages. Q&A with the musicians throughout. For all ages. This program was made possible with Arts & Cultural Heritage Funds from Minnesota’s Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment.

Sunburg Community Sing-a-long/Hootenanny
Folk, gospel, bluegrass and children’s songs will be featured at a community sing-a-long at East Norway Lake Lutheran Church (ENLLC) in rural New London on Saturday, October 12 at 4 p.m. The event is FREE and people of all ages are welcome. This event is designed to build community and a common repertoire of favorite songs such as “Puff, the Magic Dragon,” “If I Had a Hammer,” “I’ll Fly Away,” “Old McDonald” and “My Grandfather’s Clock.” Music leaders include Dempsey Schroeder, Maggie Harp and Joyce Rudningen. Instrumental support will include double bass, mandolin, guitar, ukuleles and banjoleles. The event is sponsored by Sunburg Community Music and the church women of ENLLC. Homemade soups and breads will be featured at a 5:30 p.m. dinner following the event. Free-will donations at the dinner will go to the fellowship hall carpet replacement fund. Sunburg Community Music is sponsoring a workshop earlier in the day at Hope Lutheran Church in Sunburg to prepare for the event. Introductory double bass, guitar, mandolin and ukulele will be taught by music leaders. The workshop is free and instruments are provided. Pre-registration is required. The workshop is funded with a grant from the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council made possible by the voters of Minnesota, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

Crow River Lutheran Soup and Sandwich Supper and Auction
Everyone is invited to Crow River Lutheran church on Saturday, October 12 for their fall soup and sandwich supper (free will donation) and live auction. The supper will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. in the church basement, and the live auction follows at 7 p.m. WELCA raffle tickets are on sale now for $2 each, and drawings will be during the auction (need not be present to win). Additional details will appear in the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. This is a Thrivent-sponsored event.

Elrosa Fire Department Steak Fry and raffle
The Elrosa Fire Department invites everyone to their annual Steak Fry and Raffle fundraiser on Saturday, October 12, when they will serve from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church basement. Cost: $20 per person, and takeouts will be available. For the drawing, you need not be present to win, and the first prize is $750 cash. The drawing is in the church basement at 8 p.m. that night.

Grief Support group in Belgrade
Whether you are grieving a recent loss or one from years ago, all are welcome to meet with others who have known similar losses, including loss of a parent, child, sibling, spouse, job, or health. This group meets once each month for 90 minutes on the third Tuesday of the month. Their next meeting is Tuesday, October 15 at the Big Grove/Crow River/Grace Lutheran parish office in Belgrade from 6:30 to 8 p.m. (downtown Belgrade at the municipal building). The Belgrade V.F.W. Saboe-Leverson Post 1825 Auxiliary will host a Carlson Pillow Cleaning Service session on Wednesday, October 17 at the Post Home from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pillows cleaned, deodorized, sanitized and fluffed. This is a mobile unite with same day service, cleaning while your wait! Custom-made NEW pillows and comforters for sale. Big Grove Lutheran WELCA Supper and Auction
The Big Grove Lutheran church WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) invites everyone to their fall supper and auction on Friday, October 18; at their church located 3 miles north of Brooten and 3 miles east on County Road 27. They will start serving supper at 5 p.m., and the menu includes: pork and roast beef sandwiches, calico beans, Rommegrot, macaroni salad, bars and beverages. The live auction with Ziemer Auction Service begins promptly at 7 p.m. As usual, the auction will include beautiful quilts, crafts, baked goods and many other must-have items.

Fall Fun Day Camp at Grace Church in Belgrade
Big Grove/Crow River/Grace Lutheran parish is hosting a new Fall Fun Day Camp with Trinity Lutheran in Brooten on Monday, October 21 at Grace Church in Belgrade from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for any student in grades K-6. The day’s activities are being planned by Junior and Senior High School kids and will feature indoor and outdoor activities, games and more. The activities start at 9 am and finish at 4 p.m. Need extended hours? Send a note to Deacon Brenda and sign up on the BGCRG website. The camp is underwritten by the SW Minnesota ELCA Mission fund, so there is no cost to families.
