The Bonanza Valley Days Worship in the Park will feature an Ecumenical worship service on Thursday, July 10 at 7 p.m. the Brooten city park led by River of Life staff and friends including Pastor Mitch Wall. We are grateful for all who participate in this event each year that officially kicks off Bonanza Valley Days in Brooten.
The BVD Medallion Hunt concluded one day earlier than it usually has, as it was found on Wednesday this week (July 9) by sisters Bailey Nelson and Tia Nelson. It was located on the west side of the city hall building.
BVD T-shirt update on Thursday, July 10...
Bonanza Valley Days "Feeling Alive in 2025" T-shirts continue to be for sale. As of today, roughly 1/3 of the full supply has been sold. As far as the selection, the "smallest" and "largest" shirts are mostly sold out. Just two "adult small" shirts are available, and they are at The Shed. Also, a few 2XL shirts are still available. On Main Street in front of the newspaper office today, shirt sales were strong! Thank you to everyone who came out to purchase one.
As far as Friday and the rest of the weekend goes...
A terrific Art in the Park event takes place on Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the city park, when the Belgrade Library will host Clay City for kids of all ages (adults are welcome too!). You can read more about that by clicking here: https://shorturl.at/UKgar.
The Nite Owls will perform music during the BVD Firemen's Chicken BBQ on Friday, July 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. Beginning after 8 p.m. that night, Nathan's Old-Time Band will perform old-time music in the Brooten Pavilion until midnight. The LifeLink III helicopter will make a landing during the chicken feed (unless it is in use on an emergency call or the weather cancels it).
Street dances will be held on Friday and Saturday night in downtown Brooten. DeeJay Sounds of Belgrade plays tunes on Friday night, and Dam Jammers is the feature band for Saturday night's street dance.
The day of Saturday features activity all day long! It is the heart of BVD with countless groups and organizations leading activities all across the town. The two main sites of activity are on Main Street and also in the city park in the western side of Brooten. At Prairie View Community Golf Course, the Gary Fauskee Memorial Golf Open takes place on Saturday, and registration is at 8 a.m. Another big activity on Saturday is the BVD Snowmobile Show, which is held under a large tent near the railroad from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., just west of the end of Main Street on Railway Avenue.
The BVD grand parade is at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, and the Miss Brooten Pageant follows that at the Brooten Pavilion. Also on Sunday, St. Donatus Catholic Church will hold Mass at 9 a.m.
