The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars earned two convincing wins at the Babe Ruth state tournament in pool play games played in Urbank on Thursday, July 17.
In game one, the Jaguars defeated Frazee 10-0 in 5 innings. Baron Breitbach pitched a complete game "No, No" with no hits given up. Coach Kaden DeRoo reported that he pitched remarkably well as part of what is a talented pitching battery for B-B-E.
In the second pool play game, B-B-E's Babe Ruth team defeated Ottertail Central Black 13-3 in 6 innings to improve to 16-2 overall. Jace Mueller started and pitched 4 innings, and Noah DeRoo was closer with 2 innings on the mound.
Next is the Babe Ruth Elite 8 round of state games on Saturday and Sunday in Henning at Tony Kawlewski Field. B-B-E is the No. 1 seed from the tournament's National pool. This means they play at 1 p.m. on Saturday in a state quarterfinal game against an opponent to be determined. The state quarterfinal games are single elimination, and the Final Four features third-place and championship games.
