B-B-E 16-U Babe Ruth baseball wins State opener!

The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Babe Ruth 16-U Jaguars opened the state tournament on July 24 with a 7-0 shut out win against Detroit Lakes. The state tournament is hosted by New York Mills. The Jaguars continue state pool play at 5 p.m. back in New York Mills on Friday, July 25 against Sebeka. A final pool play game is on Saturday.

Aiden Mueller started and pitched 5 innings to earn the win, and Walker Winter was closer with 2 innings on the mound. Mueller was stellar and held Detroit Lakes to just 1 hit while earning 6 strikeouts. Grayson Rooney earned 3 hits with two RBI.

Against Detroit Lakes, the Jaguars led 2-0 after four innings and 4-0 after five innings.

The 16-U state tournament field is divided into two pools of teams, and the top two teams from each pool advance to the State Final Four, which will be held Sunday, July 27 in New York Mills. B-B-E's final pool play game is at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26 against Sauk Centre.
