After trailing 1-0 going into the second inning today against New Munich, the Elrosa Saints amateur baseball team put up a 5-spot in the top of the second inning and stayed alive in the Region 8C tournament with a 10-4 win.
Elrosa faces Starbuck on Saturday in Spring Hill with first pitch at about 1:30 p.m. depending on the pace of the 11 a.m. game that day. The winner of that 1:30 game goes home, while the winner earns a trip to the state tournament.
The Saints hosted the opening games of Region 8C on Friday night.
Paynesville defeated Spring Hill on Friday by a 3-0 score.
The Chargers then fell out of the tournament with a 12-6 loss on Sunday to Roscoe. Roscoe was sent to the elimination bracket after a 5-3 loss on Friday to Starbuck.
On Sunday in a state qualifier, Farming came out of a tight battle with Regal with a 3-2 win to earn a repeat trip to the big show.
Regal looks to keep their season alive with an elimination game against Roscoe at 11 a.m. this Saturday.
Paynesville and Farming square off at 4 p.m. on Saturday in Spring Hill in the Region 8C championship. The loser of that game moves to the final seeding contest, which is set for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
