B-B-E K-12 enrollment remains above 600

It's not a boom, but K-12 enrollment numbers for the opening week of school at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa were surprisingly good compared to projections across the past 3 years that this figure would dip below 600 for the first time ever this fall.

After graduating 55 students last May and projecting an incoming kindergarten class of about 40, B-B-E's projection was almost certain that K-12 enrollment would dip below 600. Fortunately, a surge of new (and some returning) students in the elementary helped push the K-12 total to 608 as of Tuesday, August 26.

It's a remarkable turn of events as the K-5 average enrollment is almost 50 per grade. This compares to a figure close to 44 per grade at B-B-E high school in Belgrade. These numbers will likely continue to fluctuate and are not official enrollment counts. Schools provide firm enrollment data to the Minnesota Department of Education in October.

The full article with grade-level enrollment was published in the August 28 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper.
