A cozy group of over 70 children and adults gathered in the warm confines of the South Lake Johanna Lutheran church sanctuary on Wednesday, December 24 for a Christmas Eve worship. The service was led by Pastor Ron Knutson, who currently preaches at Sunburg Free Lutheran and Scandia Lutheran churches. The attached video, which begins while worshipers are singing It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, features most of the worship service. Pastor Ron graduated from Brooten in 1958. This is his 55th year of his pastor career.
At the 5-minute mark, Tony and Marie Halls perform the song Mary, Did you Know? as special music. Marie is a 1978 graduate of Brooten high school.
At the 13-minute mark, Pastor Ron reads the Holy Gospel and then preaches his sermon titled "The Real Meaning of Christmas."
