Belgrade August Fest kicks off with music, food and more (VIDEO)

The Belgrade August Fest celebration is underway. The fun kicked off on Thursday, August 13 with multiple activities at the city park on South Highway 71.

Erickson Farm hosted a petting zoo on the north side of the park while children enjoyed the playground. The Belgrade Lions helped serve a hot dog/hamburger meal at the city park, which was catered by The Spot. Members of the Belgrade Fire Department and the Belgrade-Brooten Police Department hosted a Touch-a-Truck event at the same time. Live music was performed by Southern Crossroads, which is featured near the end of the attached video.

Multiple events take place across Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Belgrade August Fest. The August Fest Grand Parade is on Saturday at 4 p.m. beginning at the high school parking lot.

On Saturday, August 15

The B-B-E Troop 667 Scouting America's waffle feed is one of the first events on Saturday. It takes place from 8 a.m. to noon on main street. For ages 13 and older, tickets are $12. For ages 6 to 12, the price is $8. Children ages 5 and under eat free.

The August Fest Walk/Run is at the high school starting at 9:30 a.m .; it's sponsored by the B-B-E Music Boosters, and registration starts at 9:15.

The August Fest Craft and Vendor show runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on main street. From 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the August Fest Classic Car and Truck show is on main street.

The August Fest Quilt Show, sponsored by the Belgrade Reader's Club, begins at 9 a.m. at the municipal hall community room and ends at 3 p.m.

The B-B-E Knights of Columbus will sell root beer floats from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Numerous events take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m .: inflatables for kids, power bungee jumping, a mechanical bull and a baseball speed pitch machine.

There's also carnival games, sponsored by River of Life Church, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Belgrade. A Cold Brew coffee booth is also from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is sponsored by River of Life Church missions. The Belgrade Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p..m. in downtown Belgrade, there's also face painting, glitter tattoos, a Henna tattoo artist, balloon artist and a caricature artist.

Dee Jay Sounds will play music on the stage on main street from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Junior Bean Bag tournament starts at 12:30 p.m. on main street. Also for kids, a pedal tractor pull starts at 1:30 p.m.

The grand parade is at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Belgrade Lions Club bean bag tournament is set for 5:30 p.m. (registration opens at 5 p.m.), and the Royal Ambassador program is at 5:30 p.m. on main street.

At 7 p.m., a family friendly Mixed Nuts Comedy show takes place in downtown Belgrade. The Whiskey Stone free street dance starts at 8 p.m. The Belgrade Fire Relief Association raffle drawing will be held at The Spot at 9 p.m.

Sunday, August 16

On Sunday, August Fest concludes with a non-denominational worship service at 11 a.m. at the Belgrade City Park. This is hosted by Big Grove-Crow River-Grace Lutheran parish and River of Life Church. The Spot will have live music performed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. by John Dokken.
