Incredible, amazing small town support for Deters family (VIDEO)

The Elrosa Fire Department steak fry on Saturday, October 10 drew a record turnout of support. Not only did the steak fry serve over 1,000 customers in a span of just four hours, but the community support was overwhelming for the Joslyn and Brandon Deters family. Joslyn Deters is currently at the beginning stages of treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She was diagnosed with this cancer one month ago, September 11.

During the steak fry, a free will offering was taken by the fire department on behalf of the Deters family. Donations exceeded $4,100.

As for the steak fry turnout, the to-go line held in the parking lot served 620 meals. Dine-in guests totaled 412. That total of 1,032 exceeded the department's 2025 steak fry's figure of 920. Turnout was 828 in 2024.

All this in a town of about 220 residents on the far western edge of Stearns County, Minnesota.

In the attached video, Elrosa fire fighter Gary Deters announced the turnout for the steak fry. Additional coverage is forthcoming in the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper.
