Domestic shooting draws emergency response in Belgrade (VIDEOS, UPDATE)

An alleged shooting took place shortly before noon on Saturday, February 21 on the outskirts of Belgrade. Shortly after 12 p.m., emergency responders arrived at a mobile home located just off of School Street east of the Crow River Township hall.

At 12:21 p.m., a male victim was loaded onto a Glacial Ridge ambulance and transported to a nearby hospital.

Within 20 minutes of the ambulance leaving, the law enforcement response surpassed 12 squad vehicles. At 12:40 p.m., a black, unmarked Chevrolet TrailBlazer arrived on scene as the first unmarked LEO vehicle on site. According to one bystander who is familiar with the home, one individual remained inside but was unwilling to leave.

The emergency response included the Belgrade-Brooten Police Department, Glacial Ridge Ambulance, Stearns County Sheriff and the Minnesota State Patrol.

UPDATE at 3:53 p.m.: according to a person familiar with the home, the victim received a gunshot to the shoulder and is expected to survive. At the time they were loaded on the ambulance, this person was conscious. Also, Stearns County Incident Command arrived on site to process the scene after 3 p.m. with considerably less LEO on site.

According to information posted online, no loss of life has been reported by law enforcement. Shortly after 12 p.m., a 911 call was placed from the home reporting a possible burglary, but the caller was unwilling to leave the home. LEO was able to enter the home and confirm that there were no additional victims, and a firearm was recovered from the scene.

Law enforcement also reported that one suspect has been safely taken into custody. It was also reported that the victim and suspect were familiar with one another, and there is no current threat to the public.
