The annual Jakes Day, sponsored by the Bonanza Valley Royal Strutters, will be held on Saturday, July 25 at the Belgrade Sportsmen's Club. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m., and activities will take place from 10 a.m. to noon. A free noon lunch will be served for kids and adults, and prizes will be given away after lunch for kids still in attendance.
Jakes Day is a youth firearm and hunting/outdoors safety day. "Jakes" stands for Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship. This event, which is held in partnership with the National Wild Turkey Federation, is for all area children ages 3 to 17.
