The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa school board approved the fiscal year 2016 levy at Monday’s regular meeting at the high school. The local levy, which will help fund operations for the 2016-17 school year, is set to include a 7.74 percent increase from last year. The biggest source of the increase stems from the Long-Term Facility Revenue category of $107,630. This is a new funding stream approved by the state legislature. The Pope County Humane Society staff have reported that dogs south of Glenwood and in the Brooten area are being taken from their homes when they are outside unattended.
