The annual Belgrade August Fest celebration will be held on Friday and Saturday, August 10-11 in Belgrade. The grand parade will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday that weekend.

The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa school board will meet for a work session on Monday, July 30 at the elementary school library at 7:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss child care options for the Jaguar Kids Connection after August 24.

The Elrosa Senior Citizens group invites everyone to the sixth Bologna Daze fundraiser event of 2018. The sixth one of the year will be held on Tuesday, July 31 at Bucky's Bar in Elrosa from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. See you there!

Terrace Mill Children's Theater presents "The Jungle Book"

The Terrace Mill Foundation is excited to announce the second summer show of 2019 for the 19th annual children’s theater workshop. This time the Julie Lloyd-directed play will be “The Jungle Book” featuring 33 youth from throughout the area as cast members. The performance dates are Wednesday and Thursday, August 1-2, at 6:30 p.m. on both nights. The public is invited to attend and encouraged to bring lawn chairs for seating. A free-will donation will be collected to help offset production costs. See you there!

Answer Plot plot day in rural Belgrade

A forage and corn silage educational Answer Plot knowledge event is coming to rural Belgrade on Thursday, August 2, hosted by Ryan Halvorson, local WinField seed dealer. Registration is at 9:45 a.m., and welcome and introductions begin at 10 a.m. Featured will be Dr. Dan Undersander of the University of Wisconsin, who will provide information on HarvXtra Alfalfa, ash content in alfalfa, forage information on sorghums plus harvest management and storage and more. Lunch is at noon, and the event concludes at 1 o’clock. All hay and forage growers are welcome!

BG/CR/G Lutheran parish ice cream social

Coming on Sunday, August 5 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Shores of St. Andrew. Beginning with recreation at the beach (games & swimming) and pontoon rides provided by Let's Go Fishing (Belgrade chapter) from 4 to 6 p.m., and then at 6 o'clock an ice cream social will take place with burgers, hot dogs, beans, pie and ice cream; then from 7 to 8 p.m. is the worship service featuring music by the Cedar Creek Bluegrass Band. At 8 p.m., camp fire? with more socializing. Bring S'Mores materials if you wish! This is a Thrivent Financial fundraising event for the BF/CR/G Parish with free-will offering.

The Belgrade city council will meet in regular session on Monday, August 6 at 7 p.m. at the city hall meeting room. Members of the public are always welcome. Their second monthly meeting will be held on Monday, August 20.

The Elrosa Senior Citizens group will meet at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7 at the Elrosa Senior Center in the south wing of the Parish Center building. The meeting will begin with a light meal before getting down to business!

National Night Out in Brooten

Brooten locals are invited to the Brooten city park between 6 and 8 p.m. The public is invited to bring family, friends, neighbors and more to join members of the Belgrade Police Department and the Brooten Fire Department with activities and food (hot dogs, chips, pickle, lemonade).

Kick-off concert in the park for Belgrade August Fest

As a kick-off event to the upcoming August Fest, the Belgrade Economic Development Authority (EDA) is presenting a FREE concert in the park on Wednesday, August 8 at 6:30 p.m. Music is provided by Gig Noonan. You will need to bring a lawn chair, as this concert will be held on the north end of the park, and not in the shelter as usual.

Bring your appetite! The B-B-E Boy Scouts will be selling hot dogs.

This event is sponsored by Belgrade Coop, Belgrade Steel Tank and CMCU.

Eagles Healing Nest speaker in Brooten

The Brooten Senior Citizens wants to invite everyone to come to the Brooten American Legion Hall on Tuesday, August 14 at 1:30 p.m. They will be hosting a speaker from the Eagles Healing Nest veterans home of Sauk Centre. Please come and find out how they help our homeless veterans. Coffee and bars will be provided.

Norway Lake Lutheran Historical Association August anniversary celebration

The public is invited to the 19th annual celebration of the Norway Lake Lutheran Historical Association and the old log church in rural Norway Lake. The day begins with a service in the morning with seating both inside the log church and an adjoining tent. There is short journey to East Norway Lake Lutheran to enjoy a catered meal with a suggested donation to cover the cost. Then back to the tent for the afternoon program at 1:30 p.m. You will really enjoy the three short plays depicting actual events that occurred on the Norway Lake Frontier before it was even called Norway Lake. You will hear about a great elk hunt, learn how land was claimed and how a gift can make ones day better. When the plays are over there is always a little lefse and coffee. There is plenty for everyone! Bring your lawn chairs, your families and friends, tour the interpretive center and enjoy your day.
