The Bonanza Valley Days Committee is excited to announce the full list of activities coming the weekend of July 8, 9, 10 (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) to Brooten for the annual town celebration. The town is ready for hundreds and hundreds of friends and family to come back for all the fun.

The fun kicks off on Friday with the Brooten Fire Department's chicken dinner at the city park from 5 to 8 p.m. The band Gig Noonan provides entertainment for dancing and good company at the Brooten Pavilion that night from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The always-popular 10th annual Car and Tractor Show is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday to start off a long list of family-friendly things to do.

For 2016, a long list of new activities are in store. They include these events scheduled for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday: a rock-climbing wall, a water slide, mini golf, jousting and a flea market (9 to 2 p.m.) at the city park! Also Saturday is live entertainment in the afternoon with the Nite Owls Polka Band playing on Main Street.

The kiddie parade is at 10 a.m., starting at the Trinity Lutheran Church parking lot. The Gary Fauskee Scholarship Fund softball tournament is from 1 to 4 p.m. at Quisberg Park.

Bingo at the Ka-De Shack is at 1:30 p.m., and a kid's tractor pedal pull, in memory of Rick Thonvold, is at 4 p.m.

The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Area Jaycees bean bag tournament is at 5 p.m. (4:30 p.m. registration) on Main Street.

The Little Miss and Miss Brooten Pageant is at Classic Co. in the theater side at 7 p.m.

For adults, the Shaw Band is expected to provide a terrific show at Saturday night's street dance.

Sunday brings the Grand Parade at 1:30 p.m. with an ice cream social at the city park to follow, sponsored by Bonanza Valley State Bank.

Update: and don't miss out on Kids Dance by Total Entertainment at the Brooten Pavilion or city park (depending on the weather) from 2:30 p.m. on Sunday to 4:30 p.m. Total Entertainment is the same entertainers that perform at Valley Fair, the MN state fair, Mall of America and Taste of MN. They were voted the number one family entertainment in Minnesota. Free for all ages.

The full list of activities are too long to mention, but you can take a look at further coverage of Bonanza Valley Days before and after the weekend at the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper's website: http://www.bonanzavalleyvoice.com. The Voice will broadcast both the Miss Brooten Pageant and the Sunday Grand Parade at their streaming website. If you are unable to make it to town, the BVD Committee invites you to watch those events live.

Hopefully we can see you in Brooten this coming weekend!

Update: here's a link to be able to view the full BVD 2016 poster, hosted at the Jaguars Sports Blog: http://bbejaguars.blogspot.com/2016/06/bonanza-valley-days-on-mind.html
