Grove Lake chapel repairs focus of fundraising effort coming May 26

The 1880 historic steeple from the former Grove Lake Methodist church is the focus of a fundraising effort for steeple and roof repair on the Grove Lake chapel. Supporters of the chapel have organized a fundraiser to be held on Sunday, May 26 with lunch and a Memorial Weekend parade. The free-will lunch will help provide funds to major repairs on the chapel and steeple.

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Grove Lake park. Lakes Catering (Stacy Gerdes) is catering the lunch, and he is graciously donating food for the event. In case of inclement weather, lunch will be served at the Grove Lake township hall.

At 1 p.m., the annual Memorial Weekend parade will take place beginning at the chapel and then proceed across the county road to the Grove Lake township cemetery and then the Grove Lake park.

For anyone not able to attend but wishing to support the effort, contributions can be made payable to: Grove Lake Township, Chapel Fund; 12851 Co. Rd. 22, Glenwood MN 56334.
