B-B-E zip codes post a one

March 3 MDH COVID-19 zip code data brings another decline

This article has been updated with area zip codes and new B-B-E school COVID-19 figures.

Over a one-week period in the Belgrade, Brooten and Elrosa zip code areas between February 24 and March 2, the number of new COVID-19 cases is a one. This data was released on March 3 by the Minnesota Department of Health in its weekly zip code report.

The one new case was reported in the Belgrade 56312 zip code area. The areas of Brooten 56316 and Elrosa 56325 both showed no new COVID-19 cases. The increase of one comes on the heels of the February 24 MDH report, which showed that there were two new COVID-19 cases in the zip code areas of Belgrade 56312, Brooten 56316 and Elrosa 56325 reported between February 17 and February 23. This means that over the past two weeks, the 4,300 people living in our local zip code areas have had just three COVID-19 cases. The local omicron wave, which peaked with the January 27 report (54 new cases that week), appears to have completely subsided.

The current cases shown on the B-B-E schools COVID-19 dashboard total four as of February 25. The four cases are all based on figures from staff or students at the elementary school. **Update on March 8, 2022: on the March 2 update to the B-B-E schools COVID-19 dashboard, a 75-percent decline in active COVID-19 cases was shown. The new figures show just one case among B-B-E staff and students, with that lone case being with the elementary school (grades K-5). The Jaguar Kids Connection day care, which has operated since last summer without forced masking of children or staff, has gone over five weeks with zero COVID-19 cases. Also, B-B-E high school has had zero COVID-19 cases for the past three weeks.

Area zip code data will be posted on this web article at a future time. Update: The Voice is processing area zip code data on March 7, and it has been updated.
