Note added on Sunday, July 10: the post-Bonanza Valley Days coverage by the Bonanza Valley Voice will mostly take place in the July 14, July 21 and July 28 newspaper issues. Crazy is ready to invade Brooten! This crazy comes in the form of Bonanza Valley Days, something the town can be very, very proud of.

Another year of planning and donating and phone calling and everything else that goes into Bonanza Valley Days is about to pay off. Yes, it is almost here! BVD 2022 starts today with non-denominational worship in the city park with Father Jeremy Theis of the Parishes on the Prairie Catholic churches at 7 o'clock.

**Friday night LATE night update: here's a link to read about the Bonanza Valley Days kiddie parade (short link): https://bit.ly/3uB9g2O. This event begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning (usually lasting only about five minutes) and runs down Hatton Street beginning near Trinity Lutheran church. Staging takes place generally on the east side of Trinity. Regarding BVD T-shirt sales...manufacturing of BVD-related "bling" and apparel has gone much longer than expected. This, combined with the effects of America's severe labor shortage that has trickled down to the Bonanza Valley area, led to an impossible time to properly have T-shirts for sale. They were on sale for part of Friday night at the street dance, and sales were great! However, we apologize that T-shirts were not on sale in the afternoon. They will be for sale again on Saturday.

Brooten fire department chicken BBQ supper update: the turnout was incredible once again for the chicken BBQ feed. The ran it down to their last cooker of chicken, coming very close to running out . This means they did not run out! How they are able to plan for the huge crowd and absolutely nail it like they did is a mystery to me.

The long, long list of BVD 2022 activities is published on page 14 in this week's Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. The BVD Committee wants everyone to know that there will be ample entertainment and socializing opportunities as well as the usual selection of food vendors. The food truck that offered food during last year's Brut snowmobile show will now have a full, day-long presence in Brooten on Saturday. Bark n' Pig with Dean Clausen will be on main street as well, and the B-B-E wrestling club will sell food on Saturday.

The Scouts waffle feed on Sunday runs from 8 a.m. to noon, and more details on that are further below in this web article. The KaDe Shack will not serve food from around noon on Saturday through Sunday afternoon. Tom and Anne Kampsen, KaDe Shack owners, encourages everyone to support the other food options in town, including other businesses in town that will continue serving food including RJ's Mini-Mart, Marcia's Bar and Grill and the Chuckwagon. Their Sunday morning buffet is served on Saturday for the BVD weekend (6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.)...on Sunday the Kampsens direct everyone to the waffle feed.

Last week's June 30 newspaper included a lengthy list of updates and explanations for BVD activities.

To help wrap up Brooten's Bonanza Valley Days celebration, Day IV begins with Grandpa's Belgian Waffles on Sunday morning at the city park. The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Scouts BSA Troop No. 667 will be serving waffles with syrups and toppings plus sausages and milk, juice or coffee. This terrific way to start your day will run from 8 a.m. to noon, so whether you're up early and need to eat before church, or you sleep in to nurse the Saturday night hangover and want a pick-me-up before the afternoon parade, stop by and support our local Scouts!

Tickets are just $8 for adults and ages 6-12 are $6. Kids 5 and under eat free! In 2019, this event served over 425, and last year's event had turnout that nearly reached 500! Let's see what type of wonderful turnout we can bring the Scouts in 2022!
