Herman TeBrake obituary

June 7, 1950 - March 13, 2023

Herman "Hermie" TeBrake, 72, of Brooten, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023, at the Belgrade Nursing Home. A celebration of life for Herman was held from 2:00 for 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 19 at the Brooten Community Church basement.

Herman Jan TeBrake was born on June 7, 1950 in Glenwood, MN, the son of Herman and Jeanette (Zylstra) TeBrake. He grew-up in the Brooten area, was a lifelong member of the Brooten Community Church (Brooten Christian Reformed Church) and graduated from Brooten High School in 1968. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1972. On November 25, 1972, he was united in marriage to Connie (DeRoo) at the Brooten Christian Reformed Church. They raised their two children in Brooten.

Herman worked as a truck driver throughout his life. He learned the auto body repair business and opened his own shop in the 1980's. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring vehicles, and visiting with his family and friends.

Herman is survived by his wife of 50 years, Connie of Brooten; daughter, Shari (Trevor) Miller of Brooten and son, Craig (Justina) TeBrake of St Cloud; five grandchildren: Treven, Cody, Owen, Makayla, and Madison; sisters, Marlene (Harry) and Ardis (Al) Negen; brother, Mark (Denise) TeBrake; brother-in-law, Alan DeRoo; sisters-in-law, Jean TeBrake, Wilma DeRoo, Dorothy DeRoo, Carmen VanZee, and Sharon Melin; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Henry and Carrie DeRoo, brother, John B. TeBrake and sister, Henrietta Tanner and ten brothers and sisters-in-law.
