Jennifer Murphey worked at Bonanza Valley Voice since December 2016

Jennifer Murphey, age 57 of Brooten died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Big Grove Lutheran Church in rural Brooten/Belgrade. Visitation will be Thursday, June 22 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Brooten. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with the Hoplin-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Brooten.

Jennifer's children Morgan and Dillon were both standout athletes at Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa; Morgan (Class of 2010) was part of B-B-E's only fastpitch team to win a sub-section title (2008), while Dillon (Class of 2012) was three-sport athlete and a standout lineman (noseguard) for the football team who also excelled as part of the late Coach Rich Vos's wrestling teams. As their biggest cheerleader, Jennifer was a steady and loyal supporter of B-B-E's athletic programs throughout her children's elementary and high school years.

More recently, she worked as editor and graphic design specialist at the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper since December 2016 until the time of her passing. Jennifer also worked at The Voice back in the 2000s and also for many years at the Belgrade Observer newspaper. While her talents in the publishing and job printing world will be sorely missed, the greatest loss we are coping with in our communities is the warm smile and friendly demeanor she had for everyone who knew her.

Our world is less without her.
