Norway Lake Township hosts picnic in Sunburg (VIDEO)

Norway Lake Township officers and local business donors hosted an old-fashioned community potluck picnic on Saturday, July 15 at the Sunburg Fire Hall. The guest keynote speaker was a well-known local resident of Sunburg, Kandiyohi County Sheriff Eric Tollefson, who provided extensive background information on his law enforcement career and the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's office. Also speaking was Marilyn Young, who gave heartfelt memories of her childhood and other historical information about the Even Glesne family.

Even Glesne settled in the Norway Lake area in 1860 and was one of the first pioneers to set roots down in this area. Marilyn Young is one of his great-granddaughters.

Video embedded below features the speech given by Sheriff Tollefson as well as music provided by the Sunburg violin community players, who performed "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" as well as "Amazing Grace".
