The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa wrestling team improved to 10-1 in dual meets with three dual wins on Tuesday, January 16 at Eden Valley: 48-24 over LeSeuer-Henderson, 42-12 over Eden Valley-Watkins and 46-15 over Osakis.
On Friday, the No. 2-ranked Jaguars battled in the 10-team New London-Spicer Invitational and were unable to overcome an open weight at 285, and they ultimately took second place behind the host Wildcats.
This Friday, the Jaguars travel to Canby for a triangular with the host Lancers and Minneota, both Section 5A teams.
The Royalton quadrangular follows next Thursday, February 1; it also includes Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City and West Central Area/Ashby/Brandon-Evansville. The matches against Royalton/Upsala and A-C-GC conclude the Central Minnesota Conference schedule. The Jaguars, who finished second last year behind Holdingford, can sew up at least a share of the title with at least a 1-1 mark against those two teams.
In the January 11 Guillotine rankings, Royalton/Upsala is No. 7, while A-C-GC and WCA/A/BE are in the Lean and Mean group.
Holdingford, currently in second place in the CMC behind the Jaguars, is ranked No. 3 with a 23-3 overall record. Paynesville Area is ranked No. 11.
For B-B-E, ranked in the Top 10 of their brackets are these Jaguars: 139 Ryan Jensen, 3rd and 25-0 overall; 145 Tanner Viessman, 10th; 152 Brett DeRoo, 8th; 160 Ethan Mueller, 9th; 172 Maximus Hanson, 1st and 26-0 overall; 215 Carson Gilbert, 5th; 285 Harley Weber, 9th.
