L.E.A.D. program concludes for 2023-2024 school year at B-B-E

At the May 22 meeting of the Belgrade-Brooten police board, Police Chief Casey Jansky spoke about the conclusion of his first run with the L.E.A.D. program at B-B-E elementary school.

The L.E.A.D. program stands for Law Enforcement Against Drugs. It is a non-profit 501C3 organization supported by dedicated police officers who are committed to protecting our youth and communities from the proliferation of drugs, drug related crimes, peer to peer/cyber bullying and violence. This is accomplished through education on bullying and violence and effective substance abuse prevention training programs.

The 10-week L.E.A.D. program at B-B-E concluded with a special ceremony on May 16 featuring B-B-E third graders who successfully completed the program. At B-B-E, the Belgrade-Brooten police department incorporates some type of drug awareness and anti-bullying education at an age-appropriate level beginning in kindergarten.

Jansky said, "It was a fun year, and next school year I hope it will be even better now that I have one year under my belt. It was humbling to hear what students learned and the takeaways they got from the program."
