B-B-E school board receives large Jaguar Industries donation, set to negotiate superintendent contract

The Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa school board met in regular session on Tuesday this week (November 12) at the elementary media center. Highlights included a report by the building principals on changes implemented to the makeup of student report cards, a presentation by six FFA students on the National Convention they attended in October and announcing negotiations with the board's selection for the next superintendent.

The National FFA Convention was held at Indianapolis from October 23 to 26, and a full story on their trip will be published next week. Students attending were Ana Engen, Coby Schoumaker, Abbey Schoumaker, Surabhi Velez, Daire Evens and Ellan Fischer.

With the upcoming retirement of Superintendent Patrick Walsh, who began his tenure at B-B-E on July 1, 2018, the board moved ahead this past September on seeking the district's seventh superintendent. Walsh's contract expires on June 30, 2025, which is also the date of his retirement that he set in motion last May.

In October, the board announced it would first seek applicants from within the district before potentially opening up a search with the use of a third-party private company.

After an interview held on November 4, the board announced at Monday's meeting it will enter into superintendent contract negotiations with elementary principal Josie Dingmann across the next three to four weeks. If an agreement is reached, the board could discuss and take action on contract approval at their December 9 meeting in Belgrade.

The November 14 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice featured the full school board story, while an FFA story is set to be published in the November 21 issue.
