Eric Segaar, 46, of Brooten, died Tuesday, April 29 in North Fork Township, rural Brooten. His memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 3 at Paynesville Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held that day one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home.

Eric Scott Segaar was born on November 6, 1978, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Carl Segaar and Ruth (Wolf) Herp. He was baptized at First Reformed Church in Byron Center, Michigan. Eric graduated from Caledonia High School in 1996 and soon began working at FedEx, where he advanced to the role of semi-truck driver.
Eric followed his older brother Tim to Minnesota, continuing his work with FedEx while also living in Texas and Indiana along the way. Eventually, he made Minnesota his permanent home, where he farmed on the family land and worked as a truck driver.
He had a passion for working on trucks, farming, and snowmobiling. Known for his extensive collection of tools, Eric was always ready to help others and lend a hand when needed.
He is survived by his parents, Carl (Marlys) Segaar of Paynesville and Ruth Herp of Mesquite, Nevada; his brother, Tim Segaar (Crystal) of Fredon, New Jersey; his sister, Carrie Caskey; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Carl Segaar is a brother of Stanley Segaar of Brooten. Carl and Stanley's parents were Herman and Johanna Segaar, North Fork Township farmers.
